"I have brought You glory on earth by completing the work You gave Me to do. And now, Father, glorify Me in Your presence with the glory I had with You before the world began."
- John 17:4,5

Jesus continues His prayer concerning His and the Father's glory by stating that He had glorified the Father by completing the work of redemption the Father had given Him. So confident is He of the success of His work. the Father is glorified in the Son's redemption of the world. It is interesting to observe that Jesus regards His redemptive mission as a loving gift from the Father and not at all as an unwelcome burden.

When Jesus asks for glory in v.5 He is not seeking personal reward. He is s eeking the good of others. Jesus' glorification will bring eternal life to future believers. Jesus asks that the Father glorify Him also according to His human nature with the glory that was eternally His as God the Son.

His prayer was answered: God exalted Him to the highest place and gave Him the name that is above every name,-- Phil. 2:9-11. And when we see Him someday, we will see Him in all His glory.

Christians friends, If we like Jesus, delight to do the Father's will, then the work He assigns will be done with grace and without hesitation, no matter what the personal sacrifice may be.

Conquered by grace, I bowed my head;
Forgetting myself, I humbly said,
"Whatever comes, His will be done!"
And in that moment, peace was won.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - The best way to know God's will is to say "I will" to God.
