Points leader Jimmie Johnson had a miserable night. His teammate and #2 in points, Jeff Gordon, hit the wall on lap 165 and never recovered. He finished 39th. It could have been Kurt Busch?s night to gain extra points, but the #97 Rousch driver had his own difficulties. But for Kasey Kahne driving the #9 Dodge, it was an awesome night. An awesome car and awesome driving plus awesome pit stops equals a winning night. After six poles and six times of being runner up in his young career, Kasey emerged with his first NEXTEL Cup win. It was obvious that Ray Evernham, over of the winning car, was rightfully pleased with his youthful driver. Tony Stewart in the #20 Home Depot Chevrolet was the car Kasey had to race to win. Following the checkered flag, Tony could be seen congratulating Kasey on his perfect night. And the grandstands filled with Kasey Kahne red let their enjoyment be known when they erupted with giant applause. Winning a NEXTEL Cup race requires purpose and discipline. There had been much practice and many hours of ?seat? time preceding the RIR win. But the goal of winning was . . . "Remember that in a race everyone runs, but only one person gets the prize.
