Ephesians 6:2 Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)

Our life begins with the union of a man and a woman, our earthly Father and Mother. Our earthly father figure we most come to know as Daddy. I was privileged to have a wonderful Daddy for the first forty eight years of my life. When my Daddy passed away, it was a very heart-breaking, sad day. He is no longer there for me to visit on Father's Day, but I thank the Lord that I was privileged to be able to "know" him all that time. I have those memories from the days spent with my Daddy to last me a lifetime. Not all are so well-blessed.

Father's Day came just a few days following a devastating divorce in our daughter and granddaughter's home.  After several years of marriage their husband and father decided he no longer wanted the responsibility of a family.

Jesus was visiting at the home of his friend, Peter and the house was full of people who had come to see him. They had heard that Jesus could heal the sick, which they had not seen or heard of in a very long time. So many came to see and hear Jesus.

Down the Path to the Well--a thought to remember along the way

Slide all the way to the other end of the bookshelf today--for this dad is a distant one! Now the word "distance" in Internet lingo immediately brings to mind many distance education courses springing up everywhere. Students can take online courses to get all kinds of degrees. THIS isn't that kind of distance...for a distant dad is unreachable, untouchable, unavailable online or off--he's just not there. The "book" is empty--blank pages, stained with tears--or full of mixed-up text and missing chapters--confusion, sorrow, pain--not a fun book to pick up and read!
