We fuss because of the heat hear on earth. Just imagine how hot it's going to be for the sinners that do not get their lives right with God before death. Lots of people do not believe in a literal hell. But, I would advise them not to depend on that!
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

We know that the covenant of God has nothing to do with how good or how special we are, and has everything to do with how good God is; but the fact that the charade which Jacob and Rebekah pull on Isaac and Esau seems to be honored by God, leaves us with some serious questions. It does me, anyway.
It bothers me because we read in scripture that we are to love justice because God does. Scripture is filled with examples of God meting out punishment to the unjust and wicked.
But here we read how Jacob deceives his father and brother and seems to be rewarded. It's not hard to understand that God loves Jacob as much as anyone, but his behavior seems to be tolerated too.
At no point does God seem to intervene saying, "Jacob, stop that!"

Now it's true there are times I've wanted to run away from my kids, little or big (ok, so would you, admit it!), and there are also times I love my family and love my work, but I really need a break. THIS is one of those times, a special getaway that GOD has planned for me...and when HE plans anything, He does it right. This past week, I have been spending time with family on the West Coast and at my beloved ocean--it is just what I needed.
But there's something I--and you--need even more! That's a getaway with our God, a time apart from the world where we can be alone with the Lord. A time of refreshing and renewal we all need as we meet the challenges of each new day. He created us to . . .

My family is so filled with females. A sister, two daughters, a niece and three precious granddaughters make up our immediate kindred on my side of the family. My husband has succumbed to being surrounded by girls in his own household and at family gatherings. Hugs and kisses are abundant as we interweave our lives together.
And then nine years ago God saw fit to bless us with a male. He is a perfect little grandson who captured us all immediately. We soon learned that Levi doesn't enjoy the cooing, loving and cuddling that the girls share. Instead, he has a rare special smile that tugs at my heart. Most of the time he is a rough and tumble boy, but when especially pleased or happy, Levi sends you this most gorgeous smile. In his short nine years I have found myself watching his face often for that special smile.
Yesterday his sister Brooke and I were at a store shopping when we spotted a plastic water gun that we knew Levi would like for playing in their swimming pool. Adding it to our cart I could . . .

A little red haired girl caught my attention. She had wandered in front of us a few times, as she dashed from the edge of the lake to her mother, sitting in a lawn chair not far away. I watched as she stood still, her small head bent studiously over something in her hand. She turned and started toward us, stopped and peered at her hand once more, took a few more steps and stopped again. Her progress was slow as this pattern was repeated. As she approached, I could see a moth cupped in her palm. She tilted her hand each time it moved, stopped when it crawled dangerously close to the edge and moved slowly forward when it was secure again. Eventually the little girl reached her parent, holding her hand out for . . .
