How many times have you started to do something, only to forget what it was you were about to do? Many will say, ?oh, that's because you're getting old?, but that's not always the truth. Many young people are so pressed today, that they are also forgetful. I believe life now days is on the fast track, much faster than it was when I was young. We have so many things on our mind, that it's hard to keep everything straight; therefore, we forget sometimes.
Tonight, at church, I was asked if I could bring something on Sunday night to our Salad Supper after church, to which I replied, "You?ll have to remind me. I might forget." And, promptly, I was reminded of . . .

But for Kasey Kahne driving the #9 Dodge, it was an awesome night. An awesome car and awesome driving plus awesome pit stops equals a winning night. After six poles and six times of being runner up in his young career, Kasey emerged with his first NEXTEL Cup win. It was obvious that Ray Evernham, over of the winning car, was rightfully pleased with his youthful driver.
Tony Stewart in the #20 Home Depot Chevrolet was the car Kasey had to race to win. Following the checkered flag, Tony could be seen congratulating Kasey on his perfect night. And the grandstands filled with Kasey Kahne red let their enjoyment be known when they erupted with giant applause.
Winning a NEXTEL Cup race requires purpose and discipline. There had been much practice and many hours of 'seat? time preceding the RIR win. But the goal of winning was . . .

Do you remember that final verse we looked at this past Easter Sunday, when Mary Magdalene first saw the risen Christ and was told to stop clinging to Him. Jesus told her to go tell the disciples that ?I ascend to My Father and your Father, My God and your God.? But we know that Jesus did not mean right away, He was preparing them for what was about to occur ? Ascension Day!
We tend to miss the significance of the events that occurred after the resurrection. We tend to forget that for forty days He was present in and around Jerusalem with the disciples. In real terms for today that would mean if Jesus experienced resurrection last Sunday and He would not ascend to the Father until May 6! What happened during this time, what significance does it have for what took place next, is the Ascension referred to in prophecy and what implication is there for the church today?
Let's read the account of this in Acts 1: 1-11.

Add a new i-MAC/G-5 to one new cable modem and you've got me--and millions like me--connected to an amazing world called the Internet. E-mail flies into my office from around the world; Web pages find their way into my browser worldwide--it's phenomenal power unseen but at my fingertips for my night and day.
Power to surf the world is exciting, but there's another Power we celebrate this coming Sunday which places all earthly powers way beneath His feet. It's Pentecost Sunday, and we pause to honor the Third Person of the Trinity who comforts us, walks beside us, lives within us, moves upon us and gives us the power to be witnesses of the grace of God around the world!
There's a world within me where that power's working today--drawing me to Christ, bringing me comfort in need and developing a "right spirit" within me. He's working in the world around me too as I see His hand in the lives of family and friends. And His power doesn't stop there--it works around the world to enlighten hearts and . . .

We received a phone call last week that sounded intriguing. The man was very pleasant as he told me a technician would come into our home and test our water for us, free of charge. Like many people, I am concerned about what we are drinking, especially since we know it's crucial to drink plenty of water. So I said yes and booked the appointment.
When I told my husband, he grinned at me and told me he'd just been talking to some friends who'd received the same call the week before. The water test apparently revealed that they were drinking a liquid that was the next best thing to arsenic. So they bought a filtration system worth thousands of dollars.
I don't know how true that company's assessments are. I don't know how effective their filtration system is. I do know we don't have thousands of dollars. So I cancelled the appointment.
As I hung up I couldn't help but feel a little depressed. It seems we live in a toxic environment. Our water is suspect, our air is . . .
