For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.
Luke 2:11
Everywhere you go, you get the feeling of Christmas coming. The highways are filled with shoppers, and vacationers. People are on their way to visit relatives during this holiday season. Others are out to finish their Christmas shopping at the last moment.
If you go out at night during this season, you are sure to see lots of beautiful decorated homes and stores. Some people get very extravagant in their decorations. One home in our vicinity that we call 'The Mansion' has a beautiful barn in sight of the interstate. It is all decorated with a big star on top. If you go out at night during this season, you are sure to see lots of beautiful decorated homes and stores. Some people get very extravagant in their decorations. One home in our vicinity that we call 'The Mansion' has a beautiful barn in sight of the interstate. It is all decorated with a big star on top. Beside it, they have a beautiful cross that you can see for a long distance. Then look to the side of the barn on the hill, you'll see the beautifully decorated mansion. Below, in the pond, you will find a lighted Christmas tree. Most people begin to light the Christmas lights long before Thanksgiving. But, this is one place that always waits until the weekend after Thanksgiving to turn on their lights. They never rush the holidays. But, you know Christmas is on the way when you see those lights from the highway!
Another tell-tale sign of Christmas in the air is the music that's playing. Turn on the radio and start scanning, and you are sure to hear all sorts of Christmas tunes, from the most holy ones to ones such as 'Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer'. One of my favorites is The First Noel.
But the one sure way to know Christmas is near is the advertising of the Christmas programs in the churches. The birth of Christ is probably the most told story during this season.
Heavenly Father, thank you for sending your only Son, so that we may know you. Help us to know the reason for the season and not get lost in the worldly ways. In Jesus name we pray. Amen.
