Proverbs 10:8 The wise in heart will receive commandments: but a prating fool shall fall. Proverbs 19:20 Hear counsel, and receive instruction, that thou mayest be wise in thy latter end. Isaiah 5:21 Woe unto them that are wise in their own eyes, and prudent in their own sight! James 1:5 If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. |
As Christians, just how happy are we? Can we really say we trust God and mean it? How many times have we gotten into a fix and wondered WHY GOD let us get there? Do we ever take the blame for things 'WE' got ourselves into? Do we want a GOD who is there 'when we' want Him, or do we want to know GOD as the one who is with us every moment? Do we tend to HIS business, or are we too confined to our own lives to pay attention to the will of God for our lives? Do we tend to want to 'figure out God', or do we let GOD do what He wants to do in our lives, without trying to decide what He might do next? Lots of things to ponder.
Is your life filled with uncertainty, or are you able to turn all those problems over to God without worrying? Do you tend to trust GOD with your daily plans, rather than making the plans, and then calling on God, only if you think you need Him? How many times during the day do you stop to thank God for life itself, for the blessings He has poured out on you and your family? Do you give HIM praise for the things you've been able to accomplish in your life? Do you ask Him for help during the good times as well as the bad? Do you have patience when you ask for a need, or are you one that gets upset if God isn't on beck and call at YOUR insistence?Since my accident, lots of things have become clear. I realize how much we take for granted - the things we never thank God for - our ability to walk, think, talk, hear, see - all those things that you were born with and would hate to do without. Yet, we never really say "God, I thank you for keeping me healthy, for giving me the ability to talk with you, to thank you for all the things that I have because of you." We just get up in the morning, ready for our daily routines, and just KNOW we are going to do the same things we did yesterday. But, one morning, just as I did, things may change for you. You may no longer have one of the functions you had yesterday. Life may never be the same for you. Have you made a compromise in your life that may make God not be there when you really need Him? Do your really put your full trust in His Word, that He WILL perform His Word? Or, have you put Him on the 'back burner', to use when you get in trouble? Are you wise IN YOUR OWN eyes? Why not take a good look at your life, your way of doing things, your way of serving God, and see if there may be things that you might need to change in order for God to be the GOD He wants to be for you - the LORD of your life?
Heavenly Father, help me never to take you for granted, or go without thanking you for all the things you have made possible for me. Help me to always give your praise, for you truly are my Shepherd! In Jesus name, we pray. Amen. |
