Oh look, Chicken Thursday - welcome to August and (if you are reading this in the PearlyGates newsletter) PearlyGates Edition number 1,000!

cat aquariumThis is a very special August 1st for a friend of Grandma Cybersalt and mine: Susan Page, is celebrating her first day of retirement today.

For over 20 years, Susan has served our association as the Church Relations Coordinator and Health Benefits Manager. During this time, many people have viewed her role as purely administrative, often overlooking the immense compassion, kindness, and pastoral care she has provided to everyone she has helped or served. Susan has frequently interacted with individuals during some of the most challenging moments of their lives, including sickness, suffering, and the passing of loved ones. Regardless of the circumstances, she has always been a friendly, caring voice on the other end of the phone.

Susan Page embodies the kind of Christian that both the church and the world need more of today. In a world where righteousness is often equated with anger and conflict toward those who think, believe, or act differently, Susan exemplifies a deep and genuine faith in Jesus. Her faith inspires her to respond with compassion and kindness to those struggling with aspects of their humanity, even when befuddled by their actions or words.

If Susan Page's name rings a bell it is because for months her inspiring devotionals and photos have been featured in Chicken Thursday editions of the Cybersalt Digest. I am very happy that she is not retiring from that! So congratulations Susan Page, Susan (Davis) and I are proud to be your friends and excited for this new season of life which you have begun.

Today's video share either a fun cat video or a cruel cat video. It all depends on whether or not you think cats should be allowed to catch fish in aquariums!
