Today I received a sweet smile from my grandson Levi. I cherish that look that he saves for special times.

My family is so filled with females. A sister, two daughters, a niece and three precious granddaughters make up our immediate kindred on my side of the family. My husband has succumbed to being surrounded by girls in his own household and at family gatherings. Hugs and kisses are abundant as we interweave our lives together.

And then nine years ago God saw fit to bless us with a male. He is a perfect little grandson who captured us all immediately. We soon learned that Levi doesn't enjoy the cooing, loving and cuddling that the girls share. Instead, he has a rare special smile that tugs at my heart. Most of the time he is a rough and tumble boy, but when especially pleased or happy, Levi sends you this most gorgeous smile. In his short nine years I have found myself watching his face often for that special smile.

Yesterday his sister Brooke and I were at a store shopping when we spotted a plastic water gun that we knew Levi would like for playing in their swimming pool. Adding it to our cart I could . . .

"May the Lord smile on you and be gracious to you."

Adding it to our cart I could hardly wait to see his reaction when he received it.

Sure enough when Brooke and I walked in the door and handed the toy water gun to Levi his face lit with that smile that melts my heart.

In the same way, I love it when God smiles down on me. Just as I pleased Levi with a small gift, God is pleased when we seek Him with our whole heart. Communicate with Him in prayer, study and obey his Word and God will bless us with His divine favor and peace in our lives.

A smile from my only grandson and a smile from my heavenly Father make a perfect day for me!
