Oh look, Chicken Thursday!
Grandma Cybersalt and I are halfway through our 2 week trip. I am sneaking a bit of time on the computer before bed to send out an abbreviated mailing!

Sunday Greetings everyone!
One of the things that the pandemic has left hanging over us is the opportunity to return to places of our past that have not changed, but forever will never be the same because of the people we have lost.
This is very much on my mind because this week Grandma Cybersalt and I will be travelling to my home town for a big family gathering. I have not been with my parents for 3 years and am looking forward to being in the same room as them. However, joining this reunion will be the huge presence of the absence of my sister who passed away at the end of 2021. We will be celebrating her life and finding new ways to continue ours without her.
One of my favorite things to do during a visit home has been to get away and have a visit with my best childhood friend. On this trip I will slip away to visit Darrell's grave for the first time. We will be getting together with his wife and kids at their home. It will be nice to see them, but I am keenly aware that my visit will be another sad first for them.
Today's video is a song I discovered this week. With these things on my mind, it has been a great comfort and reminder of the invitation to come to Jesus for rest.

Oh look, Chicken Thursday!
There were no mailings last Sunday and Thursday because grandma Cybersalt were away at our association's Western Conference to report on and promote refugee sponsorship amongst our churches. While there were many very enjoyable moments while we were away, but by far the best was getting to have lunch and spend the afternoon with the Guhl family, pictured here.
Almost 10 years ago, they were hunted in Pakistan because of their faith in Jesus. They fled to Thailand where they waited and waited for another 8 years for a durable solution where they could restart their lives. That new beginning started back in January when they arrived in Melfort, Saskatchewan, sponsored by a local church.
Gathered around the table in this picture are 5 of those newcomers (the 6th is behind the camera) and one of the pastors and wife of the church that sponsored them. The work of rescuing refugees is a long and emotional one. Enjoying a meal with these people and then going for a walk with them in their new community refilled our emotional tanks.

Sunday Greetings everyone and Happy Mother's Day to everyone who are able to celebrate this day!
Of course, for many this is a difficult day and if that is true of you may God's grace and comfort find you today. Today I am thinking a lot of my mother who is facing the first mother's day since my sister passed away and so there is some sadness in me knowing that it will be a hard day for her.
There was no mailing on Wednesday because it was the last night of our eldest daughter's two week visit with us. By the time we had enjoyed the evening together, and realized it was time to line up a mailing, grandma Cybersalt and I were too tired to do it!
Today's video is one I lined up to share a couple of times but it kept getting put back for one reason or another. But seeing that this is Mother's Day the topic and sentiment make today a good day to share it.

Sunday Greetings everyone and welcome back to May!
I have a fun item on my agenda today! After church I am driving up island to take in a model railroad show with my son. We have talked about maybe building a garden railroad on his property someday, but for now we'll be enjoying what others have done with the hobby.
Today's video share is last Sunday's video share since I forgot to update the link. Thanks to Gary C. for pointing that out! It is still another inspiring story of someone overcoming the obstacles of the circumstance of their lives. "Briquettes Made From Coconut Waste Could Reduce Deforestation" moves me to be more grateful and do more with the plenty that I have.
