"I am Your servant; give me discernment that I may understand Your statutes." Psalm 119:125
The actions of a servant are controlled by the will of the master. By nature we do not like to be servants, we like to be independent. Some of us may achieve that status with regard to other men, but we can never be independent in relation to God.
In the service of God there is room for a great variety of activities. Ministers and teachers are the official servants of God in the affairs of His kingdom, but we cannot all be ministers and teachers. We should be happy that we can be God's servants by faithfully performing all those tasks that come within the scope of our ordinary duties. It is splendid that so many men and women are active in church work as officers in the local congregations and members of various boards, but who will say that a housewife who faithfully takes care of her husband, household and her children is not serving the LORD in full accordance with His holy will?
Christian friends, Each of us should look upon the performance of his daily tasks as a sacred, holy act and also perform those works of charity for which the LORD gives opportunity, knowing that the LORD will graciously accept this work as done in His service. He Himself tells us: "Inasmuch as you have done it unto one of the least of these My brethren, you have done it unto Me."
Take my life and let it be, Consecrated, LORD, to Thee; Take my moments and my days, Let them flow in ceaseless praise.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - God has work for all His children, regardles of age or ability.
