"As for me, I will behold Thy face in righteousness: I shall be satisfied, when I awake, with Thy likeness. Psalm 17:15
Through the years artists have tried to portray the face of Jesus. There has never been a painting or description that has come down to us from those blessed years when He walked among men.
It must have been a kindly face which the people saw, a face to inspire confidence on the part of the young and old, the lonely and the frightened, penitent and despairing.
It must have been a weather-beaten face. He was a man of the outdoors. He had not a place to lay His head. He knew the wind and the rain, the stars over-head and the beauty of the lilies and all the songs of the birds.
No doubt men could see sorrow in His face. He was the "Man of sorrows" and acquainted with grief. The sin-burden of the world which rested on His heart must have left it mark on His face.
Christian friends, What would you give to look into His face even for a few moments? When we awake in heaven, we shall behold His face in glory. Then we will have our heart's desire and look upon Him whom we have loved so long, but have never seen.
To see His face, this is my goal, The deepest longing of my soul; Through storm and stress my path I'll trace Till satisfied, I see His face.
