"Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are, yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:14-16

 We all have had times when we feel guilty. The psalmist voiced our feelings, "Mine iniquities have taken hold upon me so that I am not able to look up." Some people say, "There is no such thing as sin, and therefore no reason to feel quiltly." However, we cannot ignore or deny our guilt. We cannot hide the uncomfortable feeling that comes over us when we have done something wrong.

 We may project our guilt by blaming our failures on tough breaks or by condemning others for the weaknesses we feel in ourselves. This will not work either, for all things are naked and opened unto the eyes of God.

 Christian friends, There is only one way to rid ourselves of guilt: It must be forgiven. Our great High Priest, who without sin, shed His blood on the cross for all our guilt.

God lived as man, as one of us,
And understands our need for grace;
He is not distant nor detached
From all the trials that we face.
