"Behold upon the mountains the feet of him that bringeth good things, that published peace. O Judah, keep thy solemn feasts, perform thy vows."
- Nahum 1:15

A mighty army is encamped around Jerusalem. The chosen people seem hopelessly outnumbered. Yet the Prophet speaks of Sennacherib (king of Assyria) and his hosts as already destroyed. A herald appears upon the mountain top with flares announcing peace to a troubled nation.

Sunday some pastors spoke to us who are surrounded by enemies of their souls. They spoke of victory to such as deeply feel the attacks made upon our faith. They spoke of peace tot he Christian Church at time when she seems to be fighting for her very existence.

They are not dreaming. they are not indulging in . . .

They are not dreaming. they are not indulging in wishful thinking. They know from where they speak. The written Word of God is their authority.

The victory is in the past. Jesus crushed the head of Satan and his allies through His atoning death on the Cross. The full fruits of the victory, however, are in the future. Jesus will reign supreme. Peace, eternal peace, will come to His own.

Christian friends, keep your solemn feast in Sunday worship and perform your vows gladly. In preparation for your Sundays, pray for Christian pastors everywhere.

Oh, let them spread Thy name,
Their mission fully prove,
Thy universal grace proclaim,
Thine all-redeeming love.  Amen

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - Our worship is right only when we are right with God.
