The personality of Abraham grows upon us as we learn to know him
better. A heroic faith prompted him to leave the land of his forebears
and to go to the country which God would show him. A sacrificial faith
made him ready to offer his only son Isaac on Mount Moriah.
This faith stood the test of prosperity. Wealth tends to whet the
appetite for more, so that it becomes a ruling passion. It is apt to
view fellow men only as tools to increase the bank account.
None of this is evident in the life of Abraham. He is largehearted.
When the land is no longer able to provide pasture for his growing
herds and those of his nephew Lot.he deplores the strife which has
arisen between the shepherds of both. For the sake of peace he makes a
suggestion which is . .

None of this is evident in the life of Abraham. He is largehearted. For the sake of peace he makes a suggestion which is unselfish and generous. He offers Lot first choice of nay of the surrounding areas. He is ready to take what is left. He was the elder and God had promised Canaan to him and his seed. But for the sake of peace he is willing to forego his rights.
Christian friends, having a great heart solves difficulties which might have lead to estrangement. It is the kind of heart which makes for peace in the home, and at church, and in your neighborhoods when interests seem to clash.
Be not weary in your serving
Do your best for those in need;
Kindness will be rewarded
By the LORD, who prompts the deed.
