"Blessed be the Lord; not one word has failed of all His good promise."
1 Kings 8:56
Such was the testimony of King Solomon when dedicating the Temple. Such
was the earlier confession of Joshua 23:14. The history of Israel
abundantly proved that God is faithful, true to all His promises.
The only stable thing in this unstable world is the Word of our
unchanging God. The promises of man often fail us; but never the
promise of God. "God is faithful." Such was the testimony of St. Paul 1
Corinthians 10:13; such has been the testimony of countless believers
in all ages. True it may seem as though the promises of God had failed.
But when we look closely, we shall find that not the promises of God

But when we look closely, we shall find that not the promises of God but our own false expectations have failed us. Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob received great promises from God respecting the land of Canaan. In their human expectations they were often disappointed. But God never forgot His promises, not did He fail to keep them. In due time, though after centuries had elapsed, He brought His chosen people into the promised land.
Even so, the final purpose of all of God's promises and providences is to bring us to our heavenly Canaan through His abounding grace in Christ. Whatever befalls us on the way must serve this one purpose.
Christian friends, trust your heavenly Father. Trust His wisdom and His love. His promises and His mercies fail not. As you read God's Word, search for the promises that apply to you. Then as you act on them, they will become precious promises proven.
O cleansing Word, O precious Word,
Your promises are true;
They give me grace to live like Christ;
Their truths are fresh and new.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - All of God's promises are backed by His wisdom, love, and power.
