In this age of unsettled opinions, certitude of faith or positiveness
in religion are looked at askance. A man is considered proud who in
matters of religion says: "I know." In our day, religion is much
spoken of as a quest for truth, a searching for God and for happiness.
Such was not the attitude of St. Paul, though the wise of the world had . . .
"I know whom I have believed and am persuaded that He is able to keep that which I have committed unto Him against that day."

In this age of unsettled opinions, certitude of faith or positiveness in religion are looked at askance. A man is considered proud who in matters of religion says: "I know." In our day, religion is much spoken of as a quest for truth, a searching for God and for happiness. Such was not the attitude of St. Paul, though the wise of the world had rejected the Christ whom he preached, though he was now in prison and facing death, Paul calmly and confidently writes to Timothy: "I know whom I have believed. I am persuaded."
Christian friends, we develop an intimacy with the Savior by learning about Him in the Bible daily, expressing our love to Him in prayer, and obeying His Word. As we learn to follow the Spirit's leading, He'll witness with our spirit so we too will be able to say, "I know whom I have believed."
But I know whom I have believed
And am persuaded that He is able
To keep that which I've committed
Unto Him against that day.
