"His compassions fail not. they are new every morning."
- Lamentations 3:22-23

A time not in peace and plenty, but in days of war and adversity the Prophet Jeremiah made this beautiful confession. Beholding ruin and desolation, he sings the praises of God's everlasting mercy.

Evil days have come upon us. Many earthly springs of happiness have dried up. But the spring that is in God's heart, the ever-flowing fountain of His compassion can never dry up. Whatever else may fail us, His compassions will not fail. This is not because of any faithfulness or other merit that He sees in us, but solely because of . . .

This is not because of any faithfulness or other merit that He sees in us, but solely because of His own fullness of grace. Our very unworthiness, our helplessness, our sinful misery calls forth His compassion.

Christian friends, through faith in Christ this compassion is ever available to each and every one of us. The out-flowings of His compassions are new every morning and fresh as early dew. On the threshold of each day our heavenly Father meets us with fresh supplies of grace to fill our every want, to forgive every sin, to assuage every grief, and to give strength to bear the burdens of the day. Tomorrow can cause no fear, and the more distant future holds no terror for those who through Christ have daily access to the ever-flowing fountain of divine compassion.

      Great is Thy faithfulness, Great is Thy faithfulness
      Morning by morning new mercies I see;
      All I have needed Thy hand hath provided,
      Great is Thy faithfulness, LORD, unto me.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - He who abandons himself to God will never be abandoned by God.
