"O God, You are my God:
early will I seek Thee:
my soul is thirsty for Thee,
my flesh longs for Thee
in this dry and thirsty land
where there is no water."

Moses groaned under the burden of all the people. Paul was oppressed with the care of all the churches. These responsibilities vanish into insignificance, when compared with those resting upon the heart of God. He upholds this vast, unmearured universe with the word of His power and He satisfieth the desire of every living thing.  Yet the believer can say: "O God, Thou art my God. Thou, with all Thy love and power and wisdom, belongest to me."

This is not mere wishful thinking, born out of an overpowering sense of weakness and helplessness. At the very heart of our life stands the Cross of God's only-begotten Son.  We hear God say: "Fear not, for I have redeemed thee; I have called thee by thy name; thou are Mine.

Christian friends, Early will I therefore seek Him. As each new day dawns upon me, I will lift my eyes to Him who is mine in a deeper and larger sense than is possible in any human relationship. As this new year begins to unfold before my eyes, I face it with my eyes confidently fixed upon Him who taught me to say: The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.  Let's take the thirst aid God offers. There's no reason to go thirsty when He is so near.

My hunger for the truth He satisfies;
Upon the Word, the Living Bread, I feed;
No parching thirst I know, because His grace,
A pool of endless depth, supplies my need.

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - What water is to the body, the Word of God is to the soul.
