"...there came a man of God out of Judah...and he cried against the alter..and he gave a sign."
- 1 Kings 13:1-10
There are thousands of anonymous people in the Scriptures that have accomplished great things for God. Usually we think only of the outstanding heroes of the Bible as those who are worth remembering. But many who were not called into the limelight displayed remarkable courage and were mightily used by the LORD. I remember some obvious examples such as Gideon's 300 men who were valiant for God, though none of them are named; and the 7,000 faithful ones in Elijah's day who would not bow their knees to Baal; and then these the little lad mentioned in the NT whose lunch Jesus used for the feeding of the 5,000.
Another lesser-known one is depicted in the text today. The first 26 verses form an intriguing story of a nameless prophet. He is characterized as a . . .

Another lesser-known one is depicted in the text today. The first 26
verses form an intriguing story of a nameless prophet. He is
characterized as a great servant of the LORD who shines for a splendid
moment and then dies a violent death. This fearless saint exhibited
real courage in proclaiming God's judgment against the idolatry
instigated by King Jeroboam. His brief but potent witness is therefore
recorded in God's Book for all eternity.
Christian friends, are you striving to bring glory to God, but find
your efforts unappreciated? Don't be discouraged, as the LORD sees you,
and knows all about your faithfulness. Many anonymous heroes on earth
will be honored and well known in the heavenly kingdom.
So something for Jesus, He did all for you;
Your joy find in seeking His sweet will to do;
Anonymous heroes who now tread life's way
He'll praise and reward when He comes some glad day.
THOUGHT FOR THE DAY - In God's book of remembrance "faithful" and "famous" are one word!
