To be sure, thrugh the Prophets God gave to His OT children many revelations concerning the Savior. These Messianic prophecies were beacon lights in the long night of waiting and afforded comfort and hopw to people "that sat in darkness and in the shadow of death." And these OT Gospel promises were sufficient to save anyone who believed in the coming of the Messiah and His redemption.

But, afte all, we of the NT have a more glorious revelation. The people of the OT had only the promise, we have the redemption; they had only the prophecies, we have the fulfillment. They were obliged to wait for the coming of the Messiah; we celebrate the grand fact of His birth.

Christian friends, What a favorite lot is ours. How much stronger our faith and more consecrated our lives should be for having celebrated the glorious fact of Christmas.

O send Thy spirit, LORD, now unto me
That He may touch my eyes and make me see,
Show me the truth concealed within Thy Word,
And inThy Book revealed I see Thee, LORD.
