"What manner of Man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?" Mark 4:35-41

    Jesus and His disciples were in a small boat on the Sea of Galilee, and it was night. A great storm arose, and the disciples were frantic with fear. Moreover, the Master lay in the back part of the ship, sleeping peacefully as though there were no storm and no danger. The disciples woke Him and told Him that without a doubt they would perish in the waves. After chiding them for their weak faith. He calmed the sea with three small but mighty words: "Peace, be still." It was then that the disciples asked among themselves, "What maner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey Him?"

    Yes, what manner of man is this? He is a man, to be sure, but not the manner of man that we are. We are afraid when danger and sorrow threaten. We call out in fear, often losing hope and confidence. We recognize our weakness, our inability to meet the forces of nature and the dangers of life without assistance. Jesus is different. He has the raging sea in His power. He says, "Peace, be still,"

    Christian friends, We can know that great calm. Knowing that we can trust in Him implicitly and depend on Him to make everything right. In danger, He protects; in the case of sin, He pardons; in any kind of trouble, He is by our side with His almighty hand and His comforting Word, ready to speak the quieting words: "Peace, be still.' Depend on Me to make everything right. You have nothing to fear," Wonder of wonders! The Son of God is ever at out side to comfort and save.

Oh, the peace I find in Jesus,  Peace no power on earth can shake,   Peace that makes the LORD so precious,   Peace that none from me can take.
