If people are attracted to the music or the melody of our lives, they may ask to be introduced to the Master Conductor.

Does our life's symphony draw attention to the One who is leading the orchestra?

Are we in harmony with our Lord and in tune with His Spirit?

The Apostle Paul says that if my life is not one of love, then I am just a loud noise; a clanging cymbal (1 Corinthians 13:1). The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control (Galatians 5:22).

If we live in the Spirit, then we will walk in the Spirit. Walking in the Spirit means we will not cause discord in our relationships.

People should be attracted to the melody of our lives, so much so that they ask for the words of the composition. We may then have the wonderful privilege of introducing them to the Master conductor, Jesus Christ. He is the One who fills our life with song. “He hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it and fear, and trust in the Lord” (Psalm 40:3).

Frances Ridley Havergal (1836 – 1879) desired to introduce others to Jesus. She influenced many, not only by the melody of her life but also by poems that she wrote that were set to beautiful tunes that continue to be sung today. Take My Life and Let It Be is perhaps her best-known and most loved song and it speaks about our lives being consecrated to the Lord. Though Frances lived a brief 42 years, her writings set to music continue to leave a legacy.

Lord Jesus, be our joy and song so that our lives flow outward in ceaseless praise to impact our world for Your Kingdom.

Take my life, and let it be
Consecrated, Lord, to Thee;
Take my moments and my days;
Let them flow in ceaseless praise.

Take my hands and let them move
At the impulse of Thy love;
Take my feet and let them be
Swift and beautiful for Thee.

Take my voice, and let me sing
Always, only for my King;
Take my lips, and let them be
Filled with messages from Thee.
